The Electric Stadium

The Electric Stadium or Greyhound in Chadwell Heath played a very big part in the history of Small World. Not only did they play there on numerous occasions but they also be seen there on many other nights.

The doormen were very friendly towards the band and many a good laugh was had with Danny, Richard, Little Ray and the others. Ray Milton the first manager of the Electric Stadium booked many 'up and coming'' bands to play at the venue. These included Haircut 100 and Marillion.

Another part of the furniture at The Greyhound was the DJ, Monty Zero (aka Steve the breadboy). Monty went on to do many other things after the Grayhound closed including DJ at the Marquee in Wardour St and appearing TV in a documentary about prositution. (mmm nice one Monty!).

There were a wide range of bands that played at the Greyhound and many types of music. Because of the friendly atmosphere the pub had many regulars who didn't mind what music was being played as long as it was live! When more 'Disco' nights were introduced the numbers went down and it wasn't long before the music venue was shutdown to be replaced by pool tables.

Small World probably played at The Electric Stadium more than any other band, they always pulled in a good crowd and we always drunk loads! Other regulars inlcluded Chemical Alice, Park Avenue, Jackie Lynton, Montage Real Estate, Fruit Eating Bears, Orange Cardigan, Le Mat, Cuddly Toys, Mad Shadows, National Gold, Deep Machine, Manufactured Romance, Desolation Angels, Fast Eddie, Rock Goddess and Scarlet Party.
